You have an itchy scalp
If you experience soreness, itchiness or if your scalp starts oozing, it’s definitely a sign to stop the colour applications as you could be allergic to the dye. These symptoms start by being very mild so even if you have coloured your hair in the past, you might not even have realised it. The most common allergic ingredient in dyes is p-Phenylenediamine (PPDA). This is what gives the dye its colour.

You have brittle hair
This usually occurs when you process your hair excessively or bleach it to change your colour drastically or take it several shades lighter than your original colour. This damages your cuticle and leaves you with straw-like hair that breaks easily.

You have damaged hair with split ends
If you have hair that is rough, tangled and has split ends, hold off colouring it in an effort to stop further damage. Instead, shampoo and condition your strands with a nourishing, hydrating formula and use a deep conditioning mask once a week to moisturise your hair.
