3 Ways to Get Rid of Dandruff



There is nothing worse than brushing or shaking out your hair, only to find small white flakes falling from your scalp. Dandruff is not only uncomfortable and itchy, it can really disrupt your day. So what is the solution? Well, there are special shampoos and conditioners that you can buy for this specific problem, but why do that when you can make a DIY treatment at home! Most remedies are found in the kitchen and won’t cost half as much as expensive store treatments! Check out the list below for 3 DIY ways to remove dandruff:

  1. Plain Yogurt: That’s right, plain yogurt can help dandruff! Simply massage plain yogurt (must have active cultures) in to your scalp after shampooing your hair once. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes and then rinse.
  2. Mouthwash: Another weird, but effective solution for dandruff.  Before getting in the shower, massage and rinse mouth wash into scalp and dandruff areas. Leave the mouthwash on for 10-12 minutes allowing it to soak in. Once it has soaked, wash hair as normal.
  3. Coconut Oil: This is a great solution as it can be done while you are sleeping! Simply rub warmed coconut oil into your scalp and hair before bed.  Keep your hair pinned up or covered with a towel and sleep on it. Once you wake up in the morning, take a shower as normal to be dandruff free.
